Paraiso Mangrove Eco Learning Park Marine and Wild Sanctuary Review

Submitted by faith on Sun, 11/13/2022 - 19:17
Description

This ecotourism destination in Barangay San Jose first began as an initiative to prevent storm surges, seeing how the mangroves significantly reduced the storm surge of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) that made landfall in Tacloban on November 2013. It also aims to revive aquatic life in Cancabato Bay as well as boost the area's ecotourism. In 2105, the community pledged to plant more mangrove trees.

Bagumbungan Cave Review

Submitted by faith on Sun, 11/13/2022 - 19:11
Description

Since it was discovered by a cave enthusiast in 2009, continuous exploration of this cave has been underway. It was opened to the public after thorough inspection and mapping with the Department of Natural Resources (DENR) was completed in 2013, and it has since been designated as a class 2 cave - meaning that some areas are still off-limits and being surveyed. The cave was first discovered by locals who used to frequent the area in search of swiftlet nests.
