Description
This specialty museum showcases Marikina's vibrant shoemaking industry. It tells the rich history of how Marikina renowned craftsmanship came to be, with glass cases diosplaying shoes donated by famous celebrities, public figures, and politicians, including around 200 pairs of shoes that belong to fomer first lady Imelda Marcos. The structure housing the Shoe Museum in Marikina was built in the 1860s and served different purposes throughout time, such as a rice mill and garrison during the Japanese occupation. A nearly-hundred-year-old tree lies outside its front door, which was revived and preserved after having fallen victim to the elements over time.
