Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Review

Submitted by eric on Wed, 05/04/2022 - 22:44
Description

Pasay has an interesting mix of contrasts. On one hand, it contains some of the metro's most well-preserved public spaces and brutalist structures such as the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP); on the other hand, it has a large concentration of bayside casinos, international conference centers and hotels such as those located within and near the SM Central Business Park - due to its proximity to the airport and the Manila Bay.

National Museum of Natural History Review

Submitted by eric on Wed, 05/04/2022 - 22:29
Description

Situated in a building that was constructed as the Agriculture and Commerce Building in 1940, it was fashioned after a neoclassic-inspired style by Filipino architect Antonio Toledo in the late 1930s. It houses 12 permanent galleries that showcase the rich biological and geological diversity of the Philippines. Its interiors' focal point is the “Tree of Life” - a structure that connects all the unique ecosystems in the Philippines. It is located right across the National Museum of Anthropology, which once housed the Department of Finance - a mirror image that shows classic symmetry, which is a common feature of neoclassic-inspired buildings.
