Description

Dubbed as the fruit basket of Mindanao, the province of Cotabato (formerly known as North Cotabato) is a landlocked province marked by vast plains, rolling terrains, and the Philippines' highest peak: Mt. Apo. Its geography has made it suitable for cultivating a variety of crops and tropical fruits such as bananas and coconuts, as well as coffee and sugarcane. Its name was derived from the Maguindanaoan term “Kuta Wato”, or “Stone Fort”, which pertains to the province's lineage of resistance from foreign forces.
